The UF Department of Housing and Residence Education required a complete demolition and reconstruction of a single story residence hall next to Beaty Towers. The new brick veneer, masonry structure was completed with wood trusses and deck features dormitory-style finishes. Electrical service for the new building entailed replacing the existing above-ground high voltage switch with a new below-grade switch with pit and transformer.Safety was a top priority as the site was surrounded by occupied residence halls. Utility tie-ins required careful coordination with UF Health Shands Hospital and the UF Police Department.
