With attractions like Depot Park, Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention, and the Power District on the rise, South Main Street is growing into an even more prominent destination in Downtown Gainesville.
The South Main Street roadway improvements integrate the community’s five main priorities (Destination + Identity, Parking Opportunities, Accessibility + Flow + Balance, Connectivity + Safety, and Visual Character) into a tailored, context-sensitive design. Project scope includes undergrounding utilities between Depot Avenue and South 16th Avenue.
The improvements include reconstruction of 3,200 linear feet of right-of-way features such as pavement, lighting, drainage, sidewalks, utilities, furnishings, hardscape, and landscape. Scheduling, adjacent property owner coordination, maintenance of traffic, budgeting, and quality control are critical project priorities.
