Oelrich Construction has experienced exceptional growth over the last five years, and we expect that trend to continue. With revenues increasing 25% every year since the recession, and the current local economic market poised to be stronger than ever, we are in a unique position to offer opportunities that no other firm in Gainesville can offer.

According to company president Ivan Oelrich, "We have clients, not customers. They know that we will do a quality job and that it will come in on time. We're in the service business. It's about the simple things like taking care of our clients and having the right people in place to do that."

Oelrich Construction is a local company offering positions with accelerated advancement opportunities, the chance to use cutting edge technology, the opportunity to work on high-profile projects with the key clientele of our area, and a family atmosphere that promotes teamwork and success on all levels. "Opportunity is what a person needs to succeed in life and Ivan provided that opportunity for me," said Josh Blackford, Principal/Project Manager. "His leadership has fostered the successful growth we have experienced as individuals and a company."

What Our Employees Say

"At Oelrich I really value the freedom to do my job and pursue a project like it's my own with a sense of autonomy and pride, but mostly the team I work with is next to none. Never have I experienced the camaraderie and fellowship of such a fine group of individuals who have the same aspirations and who have also become friends outside of work."
~ Superintendent Ethan Newport

"Our working dynamic is truly unique in many ways. After five years at Oelrich Construction, I feel as if I have been working with family all along. The energetic atmosphere inspires and pushes you to excel in every way to get the job done. To work with a company whose main priority is to satisfy a client beyond their expectations says a lot."
~ Account Manager Christina Sapp

Project Management Intern Position (Spring 2017 and Summer 2017)... Fulfilled

Leading North Florida construction management firm Oelrich Construction serves a variety of municipal, commercial, and institutional clients. The 13th Street DNA-Helyx Bridge, Depot Park, and Innovation Square Roadways are just a few of the landmark projects Oelrich Construction has managed in Gainesville.

Rather than employing hands-on workers for specific trades, we subcontract all of our work and manage specialty companies that exist to physically complete one or multiple trade packages (concrete, electrical, drywall, etc). Construction management is a popular approach that is becoming more popular with clients such as the University of Florida, the City of Gainesville, Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency, and Alachua County. Often this process ends up saving money and time with less change orders and a more flexible but accelerated schedule. Each job has a project manager and onsite superintendent who work with the client from project start to finish. Project management interns spend most of their time in the office, while field interns spend most of their time in the field.

Are you searching for an opportunity to contribute to lasting legacy projects? Our team is currently accepting applicants to serve in Spring and Summer 2017. As a project management intern, you will work closely with our senior project administrative team to:

• Assist with the planning and execution of diverse projects ranging from interior renovations to building construction
• Support document control (submittal logs, RFI's and change orders); review materials
• Solicit and evaluate bid packages; coordinate information among multiple subcontractors
• Provide data analysis and recommendations to improve project efficiency/quality
• Compile documentation for project start-up and closeout
• Support special projects as needed

Qualifications
Our ideal candidate for this project management internship will possess:

• Strong leadership and communications skills
• At least 1 year of construction-related experience (coursework; internships; trade subcontractor experience; general contracting, design-build, or construction management experience counts)
• Educational background in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, building construction, interior design, or similar major (preferred but not required)
• Experience with estimating, project management software, or Building Informational Modelling (preferred but not required)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail orientated environment
• Team player with a willingness to learn new things and a desire to advance in the construction field

Schedule & Compensation
• Typical internship cycles run in the following sequence: Spring (January to May); Summer (May to August); Fall (August to December)
• Interns will be compensated by the hour. We will tailor your working hours to your school schedule. Part-time interns will be expected to be available 15-25 hours per week. Full-time interns are expected to be available 35 to 40 hours per week.
• We are currently seeking full-time and part-time interns for Spring 2017 and full-time interns for Summer 2017. This position has the potential to turn into a salaried Project Engineer position, post-graduation.
